Two More

 YouTube     (2/24/14)

YouTube's a source of unending delight,

a grand education or terrible blight...

an old lady dancing or Tallest Man's tune,

an idiot twerking, a film coming soon...

Tune in to TED talks to get some ideers,

Put up your own song, (you won't hear the jeers!)

So many choices, they're there just because...

People performing, they just want applause!

Ramblings of a Useless Mind   (2/25/14)

Practice makes perfect, that's true of my pome.

My mind is distracted, just who's Emma Baum?

A relative aunty of Bunny's or yours??

Is this a real question? have you finished the chores?

Is this that condition they call ADD?

Has Noodles got pregnant or addled with fleas?

These flickering thoughts are all flooding my brain...

Most are plain silly, the rest are inane.

First one: the lady dancing to "Run around Sue" is still on YouTube -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U58S6x_oGGM   She was fabulous!  And I still think Tallest Man on Earth is a first-rate original. See his rendition of Joni Mitchell's "Both sides now" from a series he did called "The Light in Demos" -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ko0d-BQLbvU

Second poem: Many of my doggerels were addressed to Rob as a way of keeping in touch. No texting then, as I resisted cell phones until a couple of years ago. Email/doggerel was a preferred technology for me. Emma was his grandmother or great-grandmother or ...  Bunny was the greatest mother-in-law ever, beautiful, gracious, loving, generous, full of fun, loved the beach, adored her sons and grandchildren. Noodles was my neighbor's cat, the best gardening companion. If I spotted her entering the yard and called her, cajoled, she would sniff casually to the side. If I kept busy she would jump up on my shoulders.
