Yes, there were a few imagined perks to seeing everything that came into the library first (second, after Acquisitions). Like getting to check out kid books from TLC (later TRC) for my son for a whole year (he thought they were his by the time they came due.) And getting early dibs on new DVDs. Not.
"Thirty feet from stardom" is about under-celebrated female backup singers, thus "the chicks will reappear." And my former name rhymed easily so there it is. Hmm, put this one to music perhaps? BTW, I still want to be a backup singer when I grow up.
As you see, the next week, "Thirty feet" was still wrongly deemed "available" so I wrote another DVD doggerel. Dogged doggerel dame.
DVD paranoia (2/27/14)
I'm sad, I'm mad, I'm all put out;
I've lost my bit of clout.
my film's not ever on the shelf;
"Avail'ble"??! I looked, myself!
So many Feet from Stardom sits
somewhere on someone's desk.
The greedy so and so and so's
aren't letting me be next!
[ (Interlude)
Am quite annoyed, am being toyed
with, no, just paranoid (says Freud).
No clout, it's out and yet I doubt...
it wouldn't help to pout (says Stout). ]
Just check again, just wait some more.
The chicks will reappear
(Oh no, they won't, it's very clear:
they're stuck in someone's drawer!!)
[ (Finale)
Mad, sad, clout, Stout, all you do is mope.
Wait, fate, check, heck, there really is no hope. ]
Another DVD pome! (3/3/14)
The weather's going to get real cold,
oh yes, this is becoming old.
We'll need a fire and films to view;
the one we want's still out and due.
I scanned the shelves of comedy
and found two good ones, can't have three.
The one with Dreyfuss, Gandolfin(i),
other one that Amber's seen.
