End of an Era?

 Oddly, these are the last two poems from 2009. BUT, the first is not mine! My son was one of my only "followers" on this blog, which was set up as a technology learning exercise in a job-related workshop. He struck out on his own, in the midst of a blooming academic career, doing himself proud with this first(?) doggerel attempt.

The second pome is my last one for a year or more (except for an extra funny, personal one to my sister about a scrabble game her family played...  Maybe another time.)  Anyway, something must have distracted me from this doggerel obsession for the rest of 2009 and on, except for a couple in 2011 & 2013. Until 2014...

Boy’s Pome!         (3/19/09)

Don't presume I haven't read

your clever blog, to this has led.

Up too late, my brain is sleepy,

turn it off, the TV's creepy.

Homework, blogs, this and that;

waiting on a younger Cat

Lit review is due tomorrow,

classmates' views may bring some sorrow.

Rumble grumble, dishwasher groan;

you woulda' thought the roommate's home.

Enjoyed your rhythms, enjoyed your rhymes,

I'll check it out from time to times.

Don't forget to do my taxes

Now BACK TO WORK, you'll get the AXES!!!

And My Reply to Boy’s Pome

Oh no, it must genetic be!
You are, it seems, as good as me.
Although I have by far more time,
you do appear to fairly rhyme.
I wonder too, can you jigsaw?
It IS a talent, not a flaw!
Whatever must do this wee brain
to keep from going down the drain...

Oh taxes, drat, there's always that,
if not our own, then yours, that's phat.
I thought you wanted to evade
the law and not succumb, degrade
your sense of honor highly honed;
give no money to those enthroned
by privilege and outright greed.
(This a rather lengthy screed!)

In short, my brain will now engage
to do the math. Cannot presage
what will result now in the end,
but I will figure to defend,
do what I can on your behalf,
including pay DC riff raff.
Need two more lines to end this thing:
for Taxes we forgo all bling???           tee hee.
