4/7/11
When a storm comes through the night,
Iz so loud you have a fright,
Up you jump to head on down;
Think I'll live in basement town.
What wuz dat, a subtle thunk,
Look around, there'll be a trunk
Somewhere out there on the ground,
After stormy, will be found.
Favorite old guy, big ole pine,
Tried to save us, did just fine.
We iz grateful to tha' sky,
Never know just what or why.
*R talked to that pine tree, he says, all through the years… worried it could come down on the house in a storm. 2011, high winds — it snapped off about 10 feet up, the other 90 feet came down straight parallel to the house. Thank you, gorgeous old pine, well over 100 years old.

End of a Room (9/21/13)
There once was tiny addition
which turned into a subtraction.
They moved out the stove,
out to bamboo grove...
With a Blam and a Booomm,
put an end to that room.
*Half of our house was used as a dental office in the 60s. The addition (waiting room) was put on WITHOUT A FOUNDATION. Over the years we nervously watched a growing crack in the facade. Finally had to address the problem and found out how bad it was. Tore it off and rebuilt it correctly. Karma.
